In this video I will share a strategy for
making downsizing less stressful and more manageable.

If you are looking around your home and wondering how in the world am I going to move all this stuff from my current home to a smaller residence, we recommend a simple solution.

To make moving to a retirement community (or significantly smaller residence) easier, we recommend a 2-phase move process. This is especially helpful if you have A LOT of smaller boxes consisting of home decor, books, etc.

Phase 1: The essentials

By moving only the items that you are going to NEED first, you can get your new place set up more easily, without all the excessive boxes that things like home decor and books require.

Essentials include things like: Furniture, appliances, toiletries and towels, clothing (current season), kitchen items, televisions and electronics, pet supplies, tools, and food.

Phase 2: Home decor and non-essentials

Once your furniture is placed and your essentials put away, you will have more space to organize and unpack boxes that hold breakables, books, and other items you WANT, but that may not be needed right away. We call these non-essentials.

Non-essentials include things like: Books, knick-knacks, home decor, plants, non-seasonal clothing, jewelry, etc.
